How to Track Compliance Training - Key Tips

So, you let them learn, learn and learn. Update the content and the same cycle follows and you keep waiting for the employees to match the industrial standards, for mishaps to stop occurring and for your organization to flourish and grow. Isn’t something missing here? Something important rather? While it is good to watch out for observable changes, it is also essential to keep a track of how the process has been working. Is the training being taken seriously? And, do they find it interesting? Or are they reluctantly managing to push by?

Tracking holds the answers for most of these questions. And when it comes to compliance things mean business, just like the general meaning of compliance. Which according to the Houston Chronicle, “In its business sense, “compliance” refers to a company meeting its legal obligations, often to protect the health, safety, and welfare of others.” Not something that can be taken lightly in any industry and hence, training that requires an extra bit of scrutiny. So, here are a few tips on how to track Compliance training.

Tip1# Create Individual Files

Or Profile as it is called in the digital world. Each learner should have an individual file that records the number of courses joined, completed, the quiz results, and a list of additional activities participated in too. A user dashboard is a good option to have and leader boards can bring in the necessary spirit of competitiveness within the organization.

Tip 2# Scores/Assessment Results

Concrete results can be good to judge the acceptability of compliance training and to make a quick analysis about the immediate understanding. While the measure of how much has been absorbed will take time, the immediate results can also help in determining the learners grasping capabilities.

Tip 3# Monitoring/Observation

The most crucial aspect of compliance training is its application, and in many cases ensuring that the regulations are being adhered to depends on monitoring and direct on-job-observation. Training login-logout monitoring can help in understanding employee engagement and participation in the training. Observing the changes in employee behavior, the way interactions happen, and the adherence to compliance standards over time is a way of tracking the effectiveness of training and identifying the gaps.

Tip 4# Conduct Surveys

While tests are to track understanding, polls, and surveys are for tracking the success and satisfaction post-training. Polls and surveys can be used to study the effectiveness of compliance training, identify the areas that need improvement, and improve future training.

Tip 5# Utilize Analytics

While an LMS is a good way to channelize both training and tracking functions, the power of analytics must be utilized well in tracking. From deconstructing a learner’s learning patterns to analysing the general likes and dislikes, data can provide great insight, but the trick lies in identifying how to put it all to good use.

Compliance training is about adhering to the industrial guidelines and regulations, but following compliance isn’t just about ticking boxes on a sheet. This is why ensuring that the learners really understand the need for regulations and the reasons why adherence makes a difference. Tracking can help in making sure that at least the training reaches their ears and gradually sinks into their daily routine.
