Enlightening Workplaces with Learning

Last week was filled with festivities, lights, firecrackers, sweets, decorations and all that. We hope that our readers and clients had a great time too. So, what we celebrated was the festival of lights, and light has often been synonymous to learning, knowledge and empowerment. This is what triggered the thought about how the modern workplaces are being enlightened by learning. And as the talk is about digital workplaces the training mode here is eLearning.

We have already discussed about the importance of eLearning in the modern workplace. eLearning makes workplace learning easier, flexible and customizable, but how does it enlighten workplaces with Learning?

Enquiry-based Learning

The core aim of any eLearning strategy is to improve the “quality” of training to leverage the demographic dividend for organizational growth. However, learning when forced leaves lesser impact and retention in comparison to learning that is self-driven. eLearning can set precedent for something known as enquiry-based learning. This done either through a flipped classroom model of learning, or through scenarios, tasks, problem based learning content.

eLearning also facilitates learning anywhere, social interactions and discussion-based learning that hence creates a collaborative environment for learning.

Shared Consensus

As eLearning focuses on social and collaborative learning, it also instils competition in a constructive manner. The Learning 4.0 focusses on more of a discussion driven learning process, eLearning is the means that allows the learners to channelize their ideas and come to a shared consensus that drives the learning home, while giving the learners a satisfaction of having initiated discussion and laid down their ideas.

Open-ended process

eLearning focuses on engagement and in many cases it is associated with the freedom of exploration, making errors, trying again and again. Branched scenarios, simulations that showcase different outcomes and more. Limited problems that are open-ended. I.e. there is no single, absolute solution to it. Such scenarios help in deriving different responses and possible ideas. Hence, leading to an inductive learning process.

In A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s words, “Ultimately, education in its real sense is the pursuit of truth. It is an endless journey through knowledge and enlightenment.” Enlightenment comes in various forms. From ancient times knowledge has been termed limitless, and in terms of modern workplace, learning means staying updated to stay ahead in the market, filling the skill-gaps to meet the organizational goals and understanding how products work or how the assembly is done, or may be just what the industrial compliance requirements are. No matter the subject/learning content, in most cases it all burns down to how the learning is approached, what the learning strategy is. And in the end, it’s all about moving forward, amassing knowledge and applying it as a part of the workflow.

We hope that the eLearning we create assists in enlightening your workplaces now and in the future too.
